Lisa Gowing spent her early career at the forefront of bridal fashion. A graduate of the renowned East Sydney Technical College (now FDS) and with also a degree in Visual Arts majoring in Textiles, Lisa Gowing started working in bridal design immediately after completing her studies in 1991. Lisa debuted her signature Couture bridal line in 1997 opening her first LISA GOWING showroom at Pymble in Sydney’s Upper North Shore. In January 2000 Lisa established her flagship Double Bay showroom and design studio.
Lisa’s collection of exquisite high fashion designsin gentle hues, layered silks and exclusive French and Italian laces immediately changed the face of bridal design in Australia. Trained in the intricacies of Couture dressmaking from a retiring industry expert, Lisas collection features only the original Couture techniques mainly forgotten in today’s fashion. Working with beautiful, luxurious fabrics cut in elegant, feminine lines Lisa’s bridal gowns are recognised as the most elite in high-end bridal fashion. Fashion forward, yet classically designed. Each gown has been hand made in Australia and constructed in layers of silk and exclusive trims including European laces and crystal or jewel embellishments.
In 2001 Lisa was invited to show her collection at New York Bridal Market and Lisa exhibited from 2011 – 2004, selling to stores across the USA and Singapore including Neiman Marcus.
In 2004 Lisa launched her ready-to-wear Bride and Event collections, the first of the high end bridal couturiers to launch a diffusion line. LISA GOWING Event stocked at Joyce boutique in Hong Kong.
Lisa married in 2007 and has 2 young sons. In 2012, 5 weeks after her second son was born Lisa launched her LISA GOWING Bride collection at the new David Jones “Bridal on 7” available exclusively at the Elizabeth Street store.
